The King visited the Dalarna region of Sweden in August to gain a better understanding of the county's ongoing work with environmental and energy issues. The visit started with a welcoming address at the Dalecarlian Horse statue in Avesta.
Thereafter the group proceeded to Hedberg Roofing, a company which is housed in one of Sweden's most energy-efficient industrial buildings. Construction of the building was carried out in cooperation with Paroc, which supplied the stone wool insulation materials used in the project.
The owners of the roofing company, Per and Lars Hedberg, explained how the building was constructed and why they chose to build an energy-saving structure. After the group toured the site, Paroc demonstrated how energy-efficient construction is achieved. The King showed keen interest in this energy-smart technology.
We're very proud indeed to show our work to the King. It's always so rewarding when this kind of project receives so much attention. We hope more and more people will see that through use of relatively simple methods and materials, energy use in buildings can be drastically reduced, said Anders Olsson of Paroc.
